Chrysanthemum
Day 22

© A.K.SIMON - Chrysanthemum - 8"x8" oil on cotton panel

Chrysanthemums are such resilient flowers. As cut flowers, I think they last longer than just about any other flower so you can take your time painting them. This is one of those wild ones that just seems like a party's going on at the end of a stick.  This piece was just fun and I used the compliment purple in the background as well as some of the deep shadow areas of the petals. I also used one of my new favorite colors, Gamblin's radiant turquoise. I love all the new radiants by Gamblin (well new a couple of years ago).
