© A.K.SIMON - "Orchid's Perfume" - 8"x8" oil on linen SOLD
Today's Quote: When two friends understand each other totally, the words are soft and strong like an orchid's perfume. Martin Luther King, Jr.
It has been a couple of fast moving months for me. I submitted one of my 30-day challenges in the Richeson 75 Floral and Still Life Competition and actually won an honorable mention award. Check out the show online at: http://www.richeson75.com/stilllife/index.html The show is listed alphabetically so my piece is toward the bottom. It's the blog piece for January 5th post: "From Light to Dark or From Dark to Light" if you want to see it closer. Also, the companion piece to the Richeson work has been accepted in the Bryn Du Mansion Show which is an annual event in the city of Granville about 40 minutes from my hometown. Just delivered it today and the opening is Thursday evening from 7 - 9. I'll post the invite on Monday. I don't think I've posted that painting yet so I'll put them together. Loose is the word for 2014 but so is landscape which I have only managed to paint 3 so far (one per month average - not good). These orchids are a bear to paint and this one went through a couple of renovations and the possible threat of a wipe off. My painting progress suffers during tax and spring cleaning season! |
